- Rodent (rats, mice, and squirrels) can and do make the underside of solar panels “home,” and find the wiring inviting to chew on, which is a fire hazard.
- And lastly, nesting birds (pigeons and seagulls for us) can find panels attractive, and those nesting areas (roof and deck below) end up with concentrations of fecal matter that no one wants.

The fix!
A Solar Panel “skirt” installed on the outside edge of the entire panel array! The “skirt” consists of a tough malleable galvanized metal mesh with a rubberized coating that prevents rodents and birds from living under the panels, and at the same time blocks leafy material accumulation, while still allowing needed air flow.
